Took a LRT ride from Kelana Jaya station(1st station) until the last station in Gombak. The whole length of the journey is 35km and will take about 50 minutes with all stops.
Don't be surprised if you can't find the driver of the train. This is a fully computer controlled train from the control centre in Putra Depot near Kelana Jaya.
Along the way, you will see the landscape from Petaling Jaya to Kuala Lumpur. The fare is about RM3 (USD0.80) for the entire journey.
The are a few convenience stops along the route like KL Sentral (Link to other rail services), Central Market(Near Chinatown), Masjid Jamek (Link to Star LRT) and KLCC station situated right under Petronas twin towers.
Do give it a try when you are in town.
